Sophy works for a rich man called Mr.Twytcott, but whe Mr.Twytcott´s wife dieds, he asks Sophy to marry him. Together they have a son, called Randolph.
Randolph is completely ashamed of his mother, because she have no money, in such a way that he did not want her mother to go to his school, because she have a bad pronunciation. Also her own husband is ashamed of her, that is why they move to another house, far from the rich people who know them, n this way nobody would recognise them and know Sophy used to be poor.
Sophy is married whith Twytcott, but she did not love him, it is for convenience, Sophy loves someone else, and she fell in love whith Sam, he is a gardener. But Randolph, her own son, controll her mother a lot and he did not let her mother being happy, she want to be with Sam, but her son tell her he is poor and she could not be with the guy she really loved. At the end of the story Sophy die, Sam is completely sad because of it. Randolph after Sophy´s wake watch Sam in a bad way, in a way he blame Sam for Sophy´s death.
In the Son´s Veto the author shows how much a mother loves a son, she do whatever Randolph say. She does not care if it is good or not for her.
